These four drawings were made in the spring of 1956 in Panther Hollow, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA. Three of the drawings were made using a felt tip pen -- new to the market. Unlike the ubiquitous magic markers today, our 50s-style ones had to be filled with ink from a bottle. Consequently, most of us in Carnegie Mellon's Freshman Painting & Design classes had heavily stained hands and clothing.
